Safeguarding Policy

Purpose:

This summary provides a clear overview of how Wilson’s Badminton Club keeps children and young people safe during Club activities. It complements our full Safeguarding Policy.

1. Club Safeguarding Officers:

  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Nina Guha

  • Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Ashish Pawargi

  • Welfare Officers: Nina Guha & Tom Vaz

These individuals are responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of all children participating in Club activities.

2. Our Commitment to Safety:

Wilson’s Badminton Club is committed to:

  • Providing a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all members.

  • Ensuring that all activities are supervised by responsible adults.

  • Recruiting volunteers safely, including DBS checks and safeguarding training.

  • Responding promptly and appropriately to any concerns or disclosures.

3. Policies and Codes:

Key policies that guide our safeguarding approach include:

  • Safeguarding Policy – full details on child protection, reporting procedures, and responsibilities.

  • Code of Conduct – sets expectations for all members, volunteers, and spectators.

  • Behaviour Guidance for Young People – ensures a respectful and safe environment for everyone.

4. Reporting Concerns:

If your child or you have any concerns about safety or wellbeing:

  • Contact a Club Safeguarding Officer (names listed above).

  • All concerns will be treated seriously and managed promptly.

  • In emergencies or where immediate risk exists, statutory agencies (Police/Children’s Social Care) may be involved.

We encourage open communication and transparency — no concern is too small.

5. What Parents/Guardians Can Expect:

  • All sessions are supervised appropriately with safe adult-to-child ratios.

  • Volunteers and officers have completed safeguarding training and DBS checks.

  • The Club operates under Badminton England guidance and UK safeguarding legislation.

  • Photography and online communications are managed safely and with parental consent where required.

  • Parents/guardians are welcome to ask questions about safety measures at any time.
